July and August are the happiest months for children in Poland when they look into the calendar. With the end of the school year they begin the summer break. For their parents it is relax period too – they regularly take time off in their activity cause it is marvelous moment to use break in
Poland. There is only one uncertain thing – local climate.
That mentioned two months are the time, when in Poland occurs the highest temperature is very hot.

Commonly, after few days with 86-95 Fahrenheit degrees hot air near the Earth collides with cool wind coming from north. Together it is create monstrous, one-two days long storm with lightning. The most massive storms in national past times occurred roughly 90 years ago. First one in July 1928 over capital and neighborhood. That gale causes gigantic
material losses.
There is no summary information but regional newapapers broke the news about 62 casualties, over 150 injured, ruined buildings, telegraph poles and trees. Lightning bolts caused over 100 houses fires. Second monstrous
gale occurred in July 1931 close Lublin. Regional newapapers inform about wind blowing at a speed of 500 km/h. Current one of the largest storm occurred betwixt Wrocław and Łódź in 23rd of July 2009 – this two cities are more than 200 km away from each other. Storm (called “Derecho”) causes death of 10 people and 100 wounded. In Poland gales with lightning are yearly phenomenon. Highest frequency of gales is in hilly part of country – in zones called Żywiecczyzna, Bieszczady Mountains and
Tatra Mountains it occur almost 35 days per year. Lowest number is by the sea – one in the 18 days.
